The problem of Meralco disconnecting power in a barangay causing the streetlights to go dark throughout the area is a concern that can potentially be addressed through community journalism. A community Journalist may have an understanding of the situation knowing the actual sources and potential witnesses involved. In Barangay San Miguel, Hagonoy, Bulacan the lack of lighting is connected to the former captain, Ronald Arellano, who neglected to settle the electricity bills resulting in a substantial debt. Being part of the community allows a community journalist to gain more profound knowledge and connections with the people and events in the barangay. They would uncover details and reasons behind decisions and events that cannot be fully explained solely through official statements from barangay officials. Investigating and learning about topics that mainstream media would overlook is made possible by community journalism. The core reasons for difficulties like the former captain's non-payment of energy bills and the whereabouts of the barangay's cash can be found, along with other connected concerns, through analysis and research by a community journalist. Through a closer examination and analysis of local events and problems, community journalism not only delivers information but also lays forth answers.
