Caught on CCTV: 2 unknown men pay using fake ₱1,000 bill

Two men on a motorcycle used the counterfeit of a ₱1,000 bill to pay a poultry seller in Barangay Pinagbakahan, Malolos, Bulacan.


Snow Domingo, a poultry seller narrates how the two men scammed her, "Bumili kasi sila bago mag 7am. Nagtanong sila [kung] magkano mga paninda ko, sinabi ko lahat ng prices. Ang binili sa'kin chicharong bulaklak. Unang biniqay nila sakin ay totoo na pera, na-check ko pa non, totoo naman. Tapos tinanong ko sila kung may barya kasi kakabukas ko pa lang. [Ang] ginawa niya kinuha niya ulit sakin yung 1k kasi tatanungin daw niya yung kasama niya kung may barya. Ginawa ko, binigay ko ulit yung 1k tapos pagkatanong niya sa kasama niya, wala raw barya so inabot niya sakin ulit yung 1k."


Snow gives them their change with the amount of ₱685. After receiving, the suspect asks the poultry seller to weigh a chicken, and while weighing a chicken, the suspects rush to escape with their motorcycle. "Kaya ako kinabahan na fake na yung pera kasi nagmamadali na sila umalis non. Nagpa-kilo ulit sila sa akin, manok naman. Hindi pa ako nakakatapos mag timbang ng manok, sumakay na agad sa motor [yung isa], kaya pagkaalis nila tinignan ko agad [yung pera] fake na pala." Snow explained.

She immediately went to their Barangay hall to report what just happened and asked if she could check the CCTV camera in the street where she was selling.


The Barangay personnel assisted her but they failed to recognize the suspects. "Ang sabi sakin [ng Barangay], pangalawa na raw ako na nagreklamo sa kanila, na may nagbayad ng fake [na pera]. Sa may Galile naman [daw] yung una nilang nabiktima, matanda na babae." Snow said.


When asked if the Barangay has a plan to help her catch the suspects she said, "Wala naman po sila sinabi na ganon, kasi po nung nagpunta ko doon Sabado po yun. Mga tauhan lang ng Barangay nakausap ko non, hindi si Kap."


On the same day, Snow posted the CCTV footage in the Facebook group of Balitang Malolos to spread awareness about this kind of modus and for Maloleños to become cautious.

In Barangay Malis
