San Pablo kagawads on top 3 community issues: heavy traffic, garbage pick-ups, & unleashed pets

On Thursday, three baranggay councilors answer to prevalent matters concerning residents of San Pablo, one among 51 baranggays of the City of Malolos: traffic congestion, delayed garbage pick-up schedules, and unleashed pets caused by irresponsible owners. From a community survey conducted last week, these three issues appear the most prominent.

Kagawads Sandy Ngo, Eduardo Camua, and Andres Santiago all acknowledge the issue on traffic congestion and deem that the primary cause is a local private school, Montessori School of Malolos, especially seen during weekdays and rush hours. Kagawad Camua further reasons that efforts are made to coordinate with the school admin but says that the school is 'uncooperative' adding that the allotted school parking lot, which is several meters from the school, is minimally used. The admin does not oblige the students' parents to use the parking lot so some prefer to park along the road for proximity and convenience, contributing to sluggish traffic flow.

Other heavy traffic contributors point to landlords and landladies accepting tenants with private vehicles wherein rent spaces don't include garages and parking lots, ending up with tenants leaving their vehicles on the roadside along with colorum or unauthorized service tricycles as Kagawad Ngo puts it.

Another disruption of quality living in San Pablo lies in the matter of carefree pet owners, letting their pets roam around and defecate in the streets, and another in delayed waste pick-ups. All three councilors agree on a single reason to which results the set back in garbage pick-up schedules: late private haulers. Kagawad Camua adds that the delay points back to the national government's poor traffic management, considering that haulers travel along national road, even mentioning how Manila topped world's worst traffic congestion.
"National 'yung problem eh. Hangga't hindi political will ng mga namumuno na ayusin ang basic services, hanggang ngayon problema pa rin natin iyan." Kagawad Camua comments.
